PMV Engineering obtains a new AML-STC for non-TSO Halon-Free Fire Extinguishers installation on B777 and B787
In anticipation of the EASA (EU) 2024/590 regulation mandating the replacement of halon extinguishers by 31 December 2025, PMV Engineering has developed a new AML-STC covering B777 and B787 aircraft.
As a pioneer on this subject and in order to support you in this transition, PMV Engineering has already secured a STC covering ATR42 and ATR72 aircraft (including aft cargo compartment extinguishing system adaptation) and recently obtained an AML STC for non-TSO Halon-Free Fire Extinguishers.
This AML-STC is initially dedicated to B777 and B787 and replaces current halon extinguishers with non-TSO Kidde (Collins) units. The solution features Halotron BrX ®, an environmentally friendly agent that complies with the Montreal Protocol by replacing ozone-depleting halon—without compromising aircraft safety or performance. This delivers a cost-effective, compliant, and future-ready upgrade, enabling operators to make a smooth transition toward a greener and safer aviation.
