IFE portable: PMV Engineering has certified a easy-to-install, cost effective bin divider with its restraint system
PMV Engineering partnership with ATR has succeeded to fullfil Afrijet wish to offer Wifi connectivity to their ATR72-600 passengers.
While the portable IFE, as a loose item, does not require airworthiness approval in itself, it however needs to be safely installed in the aircraft.Keeping the max overhead bin space for the use of passenger is a challenge on every aircraft. To optimize such precious space and to secure the IFE box, PMV Engineering has certified a easy-to-install, cost effective bin divider with its restraint system (see picture).
The Sierra box from Astronics Corporation and the media content have been managed by the French company PXCom - Onboard Digital Media.
In complement to this installation, to allow the use of Wifi on board, the operator has to deal with the TPED tolerance demonstration which can be supported by ATR through a dedicated Service Bulletin or through PMV Engineering STC.
